Goe, or also known as Weiqi (围棋 Chinese) or Baduk (Korean) is the oldest strategy board game in the world. It was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago and is a very popular game in China, Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei and gaining popularity in Europe and the USA. More than 60million people in the world now play the game.
The 31st World Youth Goe Championship 2014 (WYGC) is an annual international tournament for youths, (under 16 category & under 12 category). This event is sponsored by the Ing Chang-Ki Wei-Chi Educational Foundation.
The WYGC-2014 will be held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Malaysia Weiqi Association has been awarded the opportunity to organize the esteemed event.
The tournament will see participants from 14 countries, i.e Germany, Russia, Ukraine, The United States of America, China, Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Spain, Singapore, Romania, Canada and Malaysia. 24 players will compete in two categories, one Under 12 and the other Under 16. The tournament is scheduled to be held from 13 Aug – 19 Aug, 2014. The competition will be using Ing’s rules .
